Asian Handicap is the name of a variant of handicap match betting, originated in Asia (hence it's name) and is becoming an increasingly popular way of betting in Europe,
especially among football punters.
Handicaps typically give both teams handicap scores which are added to or taken away from their score at full time, making seemingly one-sided football matches much more level,
thereby making them a more viable betting event.
Most importantly,Asian Handicap betting eliminates the possibility of the draw outcome & also in theory, each team has a roughly equal chance of winning.
•Odds for Asian Handicap bets are always shown in decimals & there are two types.Single handicaps (+or-0.5) and Split handicaps (+or-0.25)
SINGLE HANDICAP
0.0 Single Asian Handicap
Betting without the draw being an option. You win if your selected team wins.If a draw occurs, your stake is settled as "push" and money is returned.
You will lose your whole stake if your team loses the match.
Single Asian Handicap +0.5
Your team has a start over their opponents. If they lose by 1 goal or more your bet is lost.If a draw occurs, your pick will win the bet.
This handicap is the same as double chances 1x,x2 and +1 for European handicap type (3 way handicap).Draw option is eliminated.
Single Asian Handicap -0.5
A draw is no good in this instance. If Pick win,it is settled as win.All other outcomes is settled as loss.
Single Asian Handicap (+1.0)
If a draw occurs, your team will win the bet as they’ll have won by an imaginary goal. This type of Asian Handicap is common when you fancy an underdog to get a result.
If your team (underdog) lose with exactly 1 goal you will get your stake back. This is the beauty of betting on the Asian Handicap.
Pick is settled as loss if your team (underdog) lose with 2 goals or more.
Single Asian Handicap(-1.0)
This means that your team must win by more than one goal in order for your bet to be a winner.A 2-0 win for example will actually be a hypothetical 1-0 win.
A win with exactly 1 goal for your team (1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 4-3) and you’ll still get your stake back because this results in a hypothetical draw.
All other outcomes is settled as loss.
SPLIT HANDICAP
Often referred to a split ball,or split asian.Might look complicated but it's actually quite simple.
In this instance, your stake is applied equally between the two handicaps & you win, win half, lose or lose half of it.
Asian Handicap (0.0/+0.5) or (+0,25)or(+ ¼)
Your team is advanced with a quarter goal before the kick off.Half bet is on +0.0 & the other half is on +0.5.If your team lose, you lose both bets.
If a draw occurs, you win the +0.5 bet.The other bet (Asian Handicap +0) is settled as a "push" and money is returned.
Asian Handicap (-0.25)(- ¼)
Half bet is on -0.5 & the other half is on 0.0 Asian Handicap. If your team wins, you win both bets.If match ends up with a draw, you lose the -0.5 bet.
The other bet (Asian Handicap 0.0) is settled as a "push" and money is returned.
*All other handicaps higher than 1.00 follow the same rule as described above, only the goal difference parameter will change accordingly.
Here is an example.
You’ve backed Portsmouth on a split handicap of (+0.5/+1.0) or(+0.75)
•Example 1: Chelsea 2 - Portsmouth 0.
You lose.
•Example 2: Chelsea 1 - Portsmouth 0.
You get half your stake (+1.0) back. The result for this half stake is 1-1,therefore your stake is settled as "push" and money is returned.
•Example 3: Chelsea 0 - Portsmouth 0.
Both bets win. Half you stake is on at (+0.5) results in a 0-0.5 win. The other half at (+1.0) results in a 0-1 win.
•Example 4: Chelsea 0 - Portsmouth 1.
As in Example 3 both bets win.
